a shiner, a birthday and a recipe

You should see the other guy...
Although the "other guy" is a table at the mall food court.
We were just settling down to dine on our home-packed lunch and Millie decided to try and get off the stroller by kneeling on the bench part (it's a sit-n-stand) and grabbing onto the table.  However, the wheels were turned sideways and the stroller rolled right out from under her, causing her to smack her face right on the edge of the table and end up hanging upside down from the side of her stroller.  There were tears, of course (the poor girl was in a LOT of pain!), but she got over it pretty quickly when I told her she was going to have the beautiful color purple on her face for awhile.  ;)  And believe me, this picture does not do it justice.  It's really quite a dark purple.

Now mommy has to endure the judgmental glares of strangers.

These next two pictures are completely random, but I just had to show off Tate in his little sports jacket.
He really didn't want to cooperate by putting his cup down, so I had to stalk him around with the camera.
Oh well, maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Sunday was Chad's birthday and he wouldn't let me make him a cake since we had so many sweets lying around the house from spring break, so we celebrated with his favorite - Oatmeal Cream Pies!

Aren't their cards just darling?  And Addie picked out the camo shorts all by herself.  :)
Although Daddy didn't quite know how to wear them properly.

For dinner, Chad requested one of his favorite meals that I used to make all the time when we were first married - Cheesy Italian Sausage Penne.

It was so good.

And here's the super not healthy, but extremely delicious recipe:

Cheesy Sausage Penne
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 garlic clove, minced
1 jar (26 oz) spaghetti sauce
1 package (1 pound) penne or medium tube pasta (you can make it healthier with whole grain penne!)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened (and of course, you could use low-fat but it won't be as good)
1 cup (8 oz) sour cream (ditto above ;)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • In a large skillet, cook the sausage and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  • Stir in spaghetti sauce; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream.
  • In a greased 9x13 pan, layer half of the pasta and sausage mixture.  Dollop with half of the cream cheese mixture and spread it around.  Sprinkle with half of the cheese.  Repeat layers.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly.
Yield: 12 servings

And if you were hoping for Addie's exciting news or pics of the bathroom, I promise it's coming!  Just hold your horses!  :)

You seem to have very exciting outings when you take the kids out :) glad Millie is doing better though. I may have to try that recipe sometime.
